I know it might be hard to, but try watching the Tamil version. If you want to see a well-written action thriller that doesn't waste any time, watch Thadaiyara Thaakka. The theme song in particular stands out and is befitting for an action film like this. Thaman's music is cool and stays with you even after the credits roll.
Director Magizh Thirumeni has made this film very effectively he has used the smallest of roles in the most intelligent way. The basic plot might appear a simple one, but it's actually very layered. Being first and foremost an action thriller, the film has a suspenseful tone from the very beginning and is also replete with raw, realistic fight sequences as it unfolds. It has those elements but in a minimal and balanced manner. The film works by most standards because it doesn't waste the first half with overdosed romance, comedy or songs. Special mention should go to Rakul Preet Singh who delivers a grounded performance as a vulnerable, scared lady as well Vamsi Krishna for playing the antagonist with finesse. While Mamta Mohandas doesn't have a highly integral role, her performance is good. Watch out for him in the action sequences where he comes through with flying colors. He has given it everything he's got and has come out with a memorable performance. Arun Vijay's performance is impressive, given how perfectly he balances himself playing a commoner as well as an action hero. Mohan, Susil Mohan & M.Thadaiyara Thaakka is an outstanding, refreshing, raw action thriller that is absolutely worth a watch. But there is a twist in the tale and Selva takes a new avatar as he decides to wage a bloody war with baddies. Kumar and his men want to bump off Selva. Selva comes across Maha and soon Maha is killed in mysterious circumstances. They are loan sharks who go to any extent to wield their clout in the city. The city is under the grip of dreaded baddies Maha (Maha Gandhi) and his brother Kumar (Krishnavamsi). He dreams to make it big in life and is all set to marry his lover Priya (Mamta Mohandas). Selva (Arun Vijay) owns a travel agency in Chennai. The film released on 1 June 2012 to positive reviews from critics. The film stars Arun Vijay and Mamta Mohandas.
